This week...

I'm sorry for the lack of posting this week. This is my second-to-last week of school EVER, but really I'm pretty much done after tomorrow. With the exception of one paper that is due next week. But that is the only thing that I have to do for finals week. After that paper is done? Well, I'll be (hopefully) deep cleaning my apartment, because we all know that it needs it, badly.

Anyway. I meant to blog earlier, but I just wanted to brag about my wonderful Monday night with my wonderful husband. What did we do? Well, we ate a delicious dinner (Chicken Parmesan) and then we did this for a little while:

Yep, we played Super Mario Bros. Wii! It was really really fun, and we beat it again on Tuesday night for the second time! We're just cool like that.

Let me know if you want to come play Mario with me sometime, I'm always game!

I better get back to work... I have 3 portfolios that I need to finish up today... Oh boy life is awesome!

Little Letters make a comeback!

Well, it is Friday, and after missing quite a few weeks of my little letters, I have decided to bring them back. Hopefully they will make an appearance next week too, but if not, whatever... I hope you guys will still love me anyway.

Dear School, In three weeks I will be done with you. DONE! Am I sad? Not at all. However, I would just like to say thank you for all that you have taught me, and will always look back on our time together with the fondest of memories. Sincerely, A senior who is beyond-ready to graduate.

Dear Easter Bunny(s), This year, there were 3 of you! Holy cow! I don't think Easter could have been any better this year! Thanks for the Easter candy. You sure know how to make me do a happy dance! Love, the girl who is 5 years old at heart.

Dear Popcorn, Last night you were the best batch ever. Seriously though...Not too much butter, and not too salty, but just perfect. Let's meet again soon? Okay. Love, a girl who loves a good snack. P.S. Tyler couldn't keep his hand out of the bowl long enough for my phone to take a picture... see?

Dear Running, You haven't actually been too mean to me the past couple of days... if you keep this up, we might actually be able to become friends! Thanks for that. Sincerely, the girl trying to train for a half marathon and only has two more months to go from 2 miles to 13.1 miles... oops.

Dear Nike Sportband, You were an excellent Christmas gift. Running with you gives me some motivation to reach my goals. And I feel like I have to go for runs so that I don't feel like my Christmas present is just sitting around...but either way, you get me to run, and it is good for me. Sincerely, the clock-watcher...  or more like the girl who looks at her sportband every 20 seconds to see if she has enough mileage yet.

Dear Self, You CAN make it to graduation. You CAN train for this half, and no, you CANNOT have ice cream tonight. Try a little bit of Easter candy and a smoothie instead. Love, Self.

Dear Tyler, Thanks for being mean and making me stick to my training schedule for two whole days in a row. I know I'm a pain in the butt when it comes to making me do things that I don't want to do. Sorry. Also, I'm sorry if I'm supposed to be picking you up from class right now. We never talked about it, so I'm assuming no? One more thing... thank you for just always being there for me. I guess it's about time...

Over the last month, I have had no desire to blog...at all. I just haven't felt like there has been much to say, at all. So, to return from my month-long vacation, I have decided to bring in some little letters!

Dear School/Internships, I would really really love it if I could get everything settled... It is my last semester of college, and I don't have the energy to not have this work out. Seriously though, lets just get this paperwork signed already. Sincerely, the girl who is sick of school.

Dear Christmas Break, Please come back! While it was an exhausting couple of weeks that included A LOT of driving between Bountiful and Sandy, it was fabulous! I'm always on-board with spending lots of time with family. Love, the girl who will never have a "Christmas Break" from school ever again, but mostly just loves being around family and friends.

Dear Criminology textbook, I really would like to read you, really. I have the best intentions, but every time I pick you up, I will read a page or two, and not remember ANYTHING that I have read. I'll keep trying. Thanks for being the rock in this relationship... Sincerely, I'm bored.

Dear Weather, What the heck?! You are confusing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest lover of snow, I'm just confused. I hope this doesn't mean I'll have snow on my birthday in July. That would be weird. Also, you are making it tricky to train for the Utah Valley Half Marathon. Yep. You are too unpredictable. Just when I start thinking "Sure, I'll go for a run tomorrow..." you surprise me with snow the next morning. I guess that is a valid excuse to get out of my run...thanks for that. Love, the girl who should be training but keeps finding excuses.

Dear Christmas Presents, You are wonderful. The Wii from my parents has been AWESOME, there's nothing quite like watching over 120 episodes of How I Met Your Mother in just a couple of weeks, and beating Super Mario Bros. Wii since we've been back at school has been wonderful too... oops. Also, the trip to Maui from Tyler's parents has given me a vacation to look forward to. Thank you. Life... and countdowns!

Life is busy, but life is good. Tyler and I have just been going to school and work, and finding time to spend with our family and our friends. For as busy as things get, or as routine as things get, life is always good.

I was going to give you an update about life, but I started typing and realized that there aren't many updates to give...

This last weekend we went home to spend time with both of our families. It was a great weekend, especially since I got to play with this studly little guy:

On another note...the weather is getting cold, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I do love being able to snuggle up in a blanket (and with the hubby) and drink hot chocolate eat ice cream. Oh, probably my favorite thing about winter is being able to use my oven whenever I want. We don't have air conditioning or a swamp cooler in our apartment, so the oven in the summer was just a bad idea...

When Tyler and I were still dating, I had a whiteboard in my room with various countdowns on them. I don't have the whiteboard anymore, but I would like to reinstate the countdown idea! Here we go!

14 days until Thanksgiving break! (maybe it is technically 15, but I consider the start of the break to be on Tuesday because that is the last day of class for the week.)

16 days until Thanksgiving!


31 days until classes are OVER! 


38 days until finals week is done!

47 days until Christmas!

I'm typically one of those people who don't talk about Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but it is something I am looking forward to, and something that is taking place in the last few months of 2011, so, I decided to put it up. By the way, if I counted incorrectly, please tell me and I will fix it.

Halloween!

Halloween this year wasn't very exciting...at all. We didn't have any parties to go to, we didn't get any trick-or-treaters (not that we had any candy for them), and we didn't have any reason at all to get dressed up... Even if there was something exciting going on over the weekend, Tyler had a Microbiology test on Monday morning, so he was mostly just busy studying.

So, what did we do to celebrate Halloween? Well, Tyler worked and I interned, then we watched ANTM while dinner was cooking, I signed up for another half marathon, and then we watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as we ate dinner. Sounds really fun, right?

It wasn't too bad. I get to have my own little Halloween celebration of my own today as I go to the store to buy Halloween candy! That is what I am excited for!

Procrastination...

WHY is it so easy to procrastinate? You see, I have this paper that I need to write. I would like to have it mostly done by about 10:30 this morning. I know exactly what I need to put in this paper, but for some reason I'm writing a blog post, and I already checked my Facebook. Why? Because I really really really don't want to write this paper. Oh yeah, my other reason for procrastinating this morning... it's still soon enough after I woke up that my eyes are still a little fuzzy, and I can't think straight. But, I need to get this done. I'll give you an update and let you know how it went.

I saw this quote one time, I don't know who said it, but it applies perfectly in this situation.

If you wait until the last minute to get something done, then it only takes a minute!

**Update (as promised): I ended up finishing my paper by 9:45! One of the best feelings ever is being able to write something super quick, and actually have it turn out well. Anyway, thanks for reading!

Time for another post already!

Time sure does go by quickly between blog posts. I swear I was just on here blogging yesterday, but it was actually a couple of weeks ago! Crazy! Life has just been pretty crazy, as always, and this last week has been extremely long. Tyler had three tests, and I had a ton of papers to write. At least that's how it felt at the beginning of the week. Now that I'm looking back though, the papers weren't that bad, and I would DEFINITELY rather write papers than have to study my guts out for a test. (Okay, I don't study my guts out, it's more like cramming the day before, but what do you expect? It's college!)

This last Monday I got a visit from my mom, Kelli, Payton and Austin! I sure do love spending time with my family. It's just what I needed. Since I go to a university that started out as a college of agriculture, it's only fitting that we have an "Ag Month," right? I thought so. This last week there have been some pretty amazing tractors parked around campus for part of Ag Month, so while my family was here, we decided to walk around campus to show Payton the pretty cool "trackers" (as Tyler would put it). Oh, I also remembered to take my camera with me! Take a look at the pictures!

 Austin is such a stud! Too bad he wouldn't smile for me.

14 more weeks to go...

Last Monday marked the first day of my senior year of college! Most people have been sad that they will never have another first day of school, but not me. I am ecstatic! Not that I haven't loved all of the people I have met, and all of the experiences that have made me the person I am, I am just so ready to be done with school. The one thing that I've been doing for as long as I can remember. Am I scared? MORE THAN ANYTHING! I still don't think I'll really have to go into the "real world" until Tyler is done with his undergrad, which means I will have a buffer year to get used to not being a student. Anyway, I just wanted to post some first day of school pictures! My last first day of school pictures, oh my!

Wrong major?

It appears that I am pursuing a degree in the wrong field. Public relations is great and all, however, I think I should become a plumber instead. I have a natural talent for plunging toilets -- since I've known Tyler I've had to plunge all but once (not that we've had to plunge a lot, but you know how it goes). Now, Tyler insists that I get to be the one to plunge from now on, since I'm apparently really good at it. I'm so glad my husband appreciates ALL of my talents!

SLACKER!!

I have been a total slacker lately. Unfortunately. I don't really feel like there is very much to blog about right now though. We're just doing the same thing, you know, going to school and work! Oh, I've been meaning to tell you... I chopped off a lot of hair a couple of weeks ago! It is now above my shoulders, and completely frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I love the haircut, I'm just so used to being able to put my hair in a ponytail and then forget about it. Not anymore! I actually have to take some time to do it... but it's ok. It is different than what I'm used to, and I like it! Change is good.

Here's another update: as of right now, I'm planning on doing the Top of Utah Half Marathon in August! I don't really know why either, I really dislike running. I think it's because it is so far out of my comfort zone, and I want to prove to myself that I can do it. Should be easy, right? Wrong again. I need new running shoes. I know, I know, I already have a ton of shoes. One pair is for tennis, one pair is just to wear casually (I've tried running in them, and for some reason they make my ankles hurt), one pair makes my shins hurt when I run, and the last pair I've had for about five years now. Crap. Buying a new pair of shoes is sometimes frustrating, I think.

Do any of you have really good tips for half marathon training? So far I'm pretty pathetic and can only run about 2 miles... maybe on a good day. Let me know.

One more thing... I am done with my summer classes next week!! I'm super excited about it too. I am ready for my summer to start! Even though I will just be transitioning from school to my internship at the hospital. It should be exciting. I'll let you know how it goes.

We're Alive!!

I promise we are still alive, life has just been SUPER insane these past couple of weeks! We've been so lucky to be able to spend time with our families and with each other. Tyler is the only thing keeping me sane during this awful thing that is called summer school. Seriously though, four hours a day is nuts. Luckily I only have 13 school days left and I am DONE...with school for the summer. Then I start my internship. I'm super nervous, but I'm really excited to start! Unfortunately, as soon as I finish school, Tyler will start. Things just can get much "funner" in Logan.

I am going to try super hard to be better at blogging every day again. Promise. By the way, how many of you are actually reading the blog this summer? If you could just click on "follow" so I know who is reading, I would be way more motivated to update this thing.

Summer School

Remind me again why I thought summer classes were a good idea? I only have two classes, but I am in class for 4 hours a day 5 days a week. Am I retarded?
P.S.  The answer is yes.

My Awesome Wife

Last night there was an awards banquet for the J-com Department and Katie was recognized a few times. Once because she will be the Director of the student run PR firm. The best thing was she was one of the Outstanding PR Juniors. That was really cool to see her get recognized for all of the hard work that she does!

School is (in no particular order)...

• A blessing
• A curse
• Stressful
• Boring
• Busy
• Hard
• Never-ending
• A great opportunity
• Expensive
• Fun
• Something that really teaches you how to procrastinate but also how to get things done.

Most importantly though... School is almost done for the semester! Good thing I get a week off and then back for some summer classes. Oh well. Only one year left of school, then I have to go into the real world (I don't think I'm excited though)... This is mostly what I'm thinking about today, what are you thinking about?

If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?

Tests are just plain awful, it doesn't matter what subjects they are for. Tyler has already had two tests this week,  I have one tomorrow and two next week. I sure am ready for the semester to be over! Tomorrow's test wouldn't be as bad if it weren't in the worst class ever (Mass Media Law is in a completely different category). Corporate finance feels like it is never going to end, probably because I don't know how to do anything. For all of my very few readers ... I'm sorry I have complained about this class so much lately. It just sucks though.

I do have a really exciting post coming for you though! I have three words for you: jumbo swirly cupcakes! Yep, you heard me. Be excited! I even have pictures!

P.S. Do you have any good jokes? I could really use something funny right now.

Are you kidding me?

This morning I picked up an extra shift at work, I didn't think it would be a big deal to just get up with Tyler and be to work at 8:00 since he has class at 7:45... Well, I always forget how bad I hate mornings, especially the early mornings after I don't sleep well. Last night sure was one of those nights. We went to bed at about 10:30, and I swear I was awake until 1:45. Ugh. Whatever. I made it to work, I'm fine. However, I just found out that my 10:30 class is canceled. Seriously? I could have stayed in bed until 10:00, or else I could have gotten out of bed and got something done. Oh well, I'm awake, on campus, and I have a lot to do. Let's just hope I don't waste too much time today.

P.S. Wish me luck for my internship interview today! I'll let you know how it goes.

Really?

I feel like my corporate finance class is a joke. It doesn't matter that I have never missed a class, and it will never matter how much I read the book ... I now know that I will never understand this class. It is super frustrating that there are only four weeks left in the semester and I don't know anything more about corporate finance than I did before the semester started. You know it's an awesome class when you can't even figure out how to use the calculator. Life is awesome.

Now to look on the bright side! Tomorrow is Friday, it's supposed to be awesome weather, so that means we'll play some tennis! I'm so excited! I have been wanting to go goof around for probably two months now. I think I'm even more excited to play than Tyler is. Maybe it's because my mood improves a ton when the sun starts shining and it starts to get warm outside.

By the way, I do realize that there are too many words and not enough pictures in my posts lately. I'm working on it.
