I guess it's about time...

Over the last month, I have had no desire to blog...at all. I just haven't felt like there has been much to say, at all. So, to return from my month-long vacation, I have decided to bring in some little letters!

Dear School/Internships, I would really really love it if I could get everything settled... It is my last semester of college, and I don't have the energy to not have this work out. Seriously though, lets just get this paperwork signed already. Sincerely, the girl who is sick of school.

Dear Christmas Break, Please come back! While it was an exhausting couple of weeks that included A LOT of driving between Bountiful and Sandy, it was fabulous! I'm always on-board with spending lots of time with family. Love, the girl who will never have a "Christmas Break" from school ever again, but mostly just loves being around family and friends.

Dear Criminology textbook, I really would like to read you, really. I have the best intentions, but every time I pick you up, I will read a page or two, and not remember ANYTHING that I have read. I'll keep trying. Thanks for being the rock in this relationship... Sincerely, I'm bored.

Dear Weather, What the heck?! You are confusing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest lover of snow, I'm just confused. I hope this doesn't mean I'll have snow on my birthday in July. That would be weird. Also, you are making it tricky to train for the Utah Valley Half Marathon. Yep. You are too unpredictable. Just when I start thinking "Sure, I'll go for a run tomorrow..." you surprise me with snow the next morning. I guess that is a valid excuse to get out of my run...thanks for that. Love, the girl who should be training but keeps finding excuses.

Dear Christmas Presents, You are wonderful. The Wii from my parents has been AWESOME, there's nothing quite like watching over 120 episodes of How I Met Your Mother in just a couple of weeks, and beating Super Mario Bros. Wii since we've been back at school has been wonderful too... oops. Also, the trip to Maui from Tyler's parents has given me a vacation to look forward to. Thank you. Love, the girl who is excited to finally play Dr. Mario in Logan.

Dear Parents on Both Sides, Thank you for everything that you do for Tyler and me. We really appreciate it, and are so grateful that we have parents who care as much as you do. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend! Love, Katie

Dear Tyler, I am excited to go to the Jazz game with you on Saturday night! You are the best husband I could ever ask for! You do the dishes, you play Mario with me, and you keep me warm at night, even though I have more blankets on top of me than you do. You're amazing, and I love you. Love, your Sweetie.

Little Letters

Dear Kindle, Thank you for being really entertaining lately. I have loved reading my books on you. You have reminded me how much I like to read. Love, The girl who is going to read you in about 5 minutes.

Dear Fall Break, I hope you give me something fun to do. I also hope you give me some good weather! You are coming at a great time, and I look forward to spending time with you. Love, The girl who always wants a vacation.

Dear Pinterest, Thank you for showing me pictures of food that looks really delicious. You have inspired me to cook more. Unfortunately, I don't have all of the right ingredients, and these recipes take an extra special trip to the store. Maybe one day I will get better at planning dinners and will have ingredients ahead of time. Love, A wannabe cook.

Dear Laundry, We meet again. Whether it's folding or washing I can always count on you to be there for me. Please stop. Sincerely, your arch nemesis.

Dear Jimmy Fallon Thank You Notes, You make me laugh. I enjoy our time together. Please be funny again this week. Love, The girl who still laughs at "Face Bidets" when getting a drink out of a drinking fountain.

Dear Running, I never thought I would say this, but I kind of miss you. Kind of. We still have a love-hate relationship, don't worry. Maybe someday I will learn to love you. Sincerely, your long-lost friend.

Dear Readers, Thank you for reading. I just hope that somebody actually gets a good laugh from these letters, because I think I'm pretty funny. Also, I'm going to try to get better at posting. Be excited! Love, Katie

Dear Tyler, I love you. You inspire me. You make me want to do my best, and to seek out every opportunity. Thank you for making me want to be better. Also, thank you for calming me down on Sunday night when I was really nervous about my interview that was on Monday. You are the best! Love, Your Sweetie (or chicken, whichever you think I am right now.)

The crazy month of July!

July was an absolutely CRAZY month for Tyler and me. We call July our celebratory month -- Our anniversary is July 7th, Tyler's birthday is July 12th, and my birthday is July 25th. Crazy, I know. For our celebratory month we decided to just get one bigger present for us to share, then only spend about $5 for birthdays. So, what did we get ourselves? Drum roll please...

 A Kindle!

I have been wanting a Kindle for a long time now! Can I tell you a secret? It was totally worth purchasing too, because I love it! We got it just a couple of days before our anniversary, and I have already read the last 5 Harry Potter books on it! Yes!

For our very first anniversary we did something special. Something that a lot of people don't do on their anniversary...we went to a family reunion! Yep, you read that correctly, we went to a family reunion. It was with all of my dad's extended family, and it was down at Zion Ponderosa (Zion National Park) and we had a lot of fun! My mom was nice enough to bring the top of our wedding cake to the reunion so we could do the traditional "eat the top of your wedding cake on your first anniversary" thing. It tasted really good! Even though we didn't really celebrate our anniversary by doing anything spectacular on our own, it was still awesome to be able to get away for the weekend and spend all of that time together!

Tyler got really lucky for his birthday. He got to go to school and work! We went out to Olive Garden for dinner that night and watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! I felt bad because we didn't get to do more on his birthday, so I let him do/have pretty much whatever he wanted for the whole birthday week!

My birthday started out BRIGHT AND EARLY! My mother-in-law Linda had a great idea...the Deseret News 10k. Yippee! The race started at 6:05 a.m. so I had to wake up at a whopping 4:30! I haven't seen that time on the clock for the longest  time! The race was okay, I cut 2 whole minutes off of my previous 10k time! My mom and Linda both killed me though. I wasn't surprised, they are amazing! After the race we went out to breakfast at the Original House of Pancakes with some of my family, and some Tyler's family! Before heading back to Logan, Tyler and I went bowling with my parents, and I was the overall winner for the day! Yes! I also had a personal record -- I bowled a 164 and a bowled a turkey all in the same game! Birthdays are fabulous! Once Tyler and I got back to Logan, we just chilled, watched the Bachelorette and then went to bed. We were all partied out!

I really do love being able to celebrate all of these things in the same month! I get to reflect on the time that Tyler and I have had together, and I get to celebrate my sweet husband's life, and it really makes me remember just how lucky I am!

New goal for the month of May!

I'm such a dork. Anybody who really knows me knows that I love winning things, especially radio contests. So, for the month of May I have set a goal to win an Amazon Kindle! I never really had any interest in owning a Kindle, however, I started thinking about it when I was looking at the prizes I could potentially win and all of the sudden a Kindle seemed really freaking sweet. I would tell you what radio station's website I'm using, but I really want to win this one, and I'm afraid somebody might go there and try and win it right out from under my nose. The contest ends on May 27th, so, I'll let you know what happens! I have 29 entries in the contest as of right now.

The cool thing is, there's no glare on the screen so I can read outside! I think this would really help me read more, it's super simple to get books, and the Kindle is a lot easier to carry around than a book. Maybe I'm just lazy, but oh well. I think it would be cool to win!
