Life... and countdowns!

Life is busy, but life is good. Tyler and I have just been going to school and work, and finding time to spend with our family and our friends. For as busy as things get, or as routine as things get, life is always good.

I was going to give you an update about life, but I started typing and realized that there aren't many updates to give...

This last weekend we went home to spend time with both of our families. It was a great weekend, especially since I got to play with this studly little guy:

On another note...the weather is getting cold, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I do love being able to snuggle up in a blanket (and with the hubby) and drink hot chocolate eat ice cream. Oh, probably my favorite thing about winter is being able to use my oven whenever I want. We don't have air conditioning or a swamp cooler in our apartment, so the oven in the summer was just a bad idea...

When Tyler and I were still dating, I had a whiteboard in my room with various countdowns on them. I don't have the whiteboard anymore, but I would like to reinstate the countdown idea! Here we go!

14 days until Thanksgiving break! (maybe it is technically 15, but I consider the start of the break to be on Tuesday because that is the last day of class for the week.)

16 days until Thanksgiving!

31 days until classes are OVER!

38 days until finals week is done!

47 days until Christmas!

I'm typically one of those people who don't talk about Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but it is something I am looking forward to, and something that is taking place in the last few months of 2011, so, I decided to put it up. By the way, if I counted incorrectly, please tell me and I will fix it.

Happy Tuesday everybody!

What events are you most looking forward to?

Love/Hate Relationship!

I sure do have a love/hate relationship with blogging. Here's the thing -- I LOVE reading other people's blogs, but I HATE updating mine. It's not that I don't like telling everybody what we've been up to, but sometimes we really just haven't been doing much, at least nothing out of the ordinary. I always feel super guilty when I'm reading all of these other cute blogs, and then I realize that it's been two, three, or maybe even four weeks since I've updated this one.

Here's another thing! Tyler and I are not very avid picture-takers. This adds to the love/hate relationship. I feel like if I have an entire blog without pictures, it isn't going to be read. Perhaps because there would simple be too many words, or because the pictures are sometimes the more exciting part of the blog. They really add to the stories that I tell.

Now that I've rambled on about this love/hate relationship, I actually do have some things to talk about!! You all thought that the blog title was in reference to Tyler and me. Not true. As I recall, a few weeks ago (better yet, on Valentine's Day) I promised that I would update soon and tell you about the day's festivities. When I said "soon" what I was thinking was later that week, probably by Friday. What actually happened was that by Friday I just didn't want to update, since we don't have any pictures documenting the day. Weird, I know.

So, here's what happened:

Started the day off, it was just a typical Monday morning. Tyler had to go to class at 9:30 and then we both had class at 10:30. After class we did what we usually do, go sit down somewhere in the TSC and eat lunch. This is where the day got special: Tyler bought be a coke and one of those big Laffy Taffy's, and I got him a mini York peppermint patty. We're big spenders! Tyler went to work at 12:00, and I went to work at 1:30. When I got off work at 5:00 we went to dinner to Chili's! It's a good thing we got there when we did, because it got pretty busy about 20 minutes after we got there. After dinner we just went home. At 7:00 we watched The Bachelor. It's the dumbest show, but I love it! I'm so lucky to have a husband that loves me enough to not only let me watch the show on Valentine's Day, but to actually watch it with me too! I'm pretty sure after The Bachelor was over, we watched an episode of Grey's Anatomy and then headed off to bed! We decided that we didn't want to do gifts this year, and it was quite a relief. :)

Since Valentine's Day we have been very busy just with the same things, school, work, volunteering, etc. Life just never really slows down! Tyler and I both have two tests this week. His are both on Wednesday and mine are both on Thursday. To add to the craziness of this week, we are going to see The 5 Browns tonight for one of our classes! It should be fun! I hope I have a little bit of time to update the blog soon to tell you all about it!

It's been a while...

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I'm SO excited to be able to spend Valentine's Day with Tyler today, it's just too bad that we have to go to school and work before we can really celebrate.

So, It's been a while since I've last posted ... life has seriously been unbelievable busy. Tyler has been busy volunteering at a physical therapy clinic at the student health center on campus and I've been busy going to meetings, I was recently made the assistant director for a student-run PR firm on campus, called True Blue Communication. On top of these things, we are both so busy just going to our classes and work. It's ok though, because it makes us appreciate the weekends that much more.

This last weekend was amazing, we were actually able to stay in Logan and RELAX. It was so wonderful ... after we went to a not so fun and not very well done performance for one of our classes. On Saturday we went grocery shopping, made cupcakes, and had a Grey's Anatomy marathon! This marathon actually continued on Sunday after church too. We sound like the laziest people ever, but it was a much-needed break. Neither of us were feeling real great either.

For Christmas we got our parents (both sets) tickets to a Utah State basketball game! It was so fun to have our parents come up to Logan and spend time with us. Not to mention it was only the second game of the season that we were able to make it to. The Spectrum is really a fun atmosphere for basketball, the students are crazy! This is the exact reason that Utah State's Spectrum has the best home court advantage in the West! We really do appreciate all that our parents do for us, and we love spending time with them!

We haven't been able to take many pictures lately, we tend to forget the camera when we are going places that would be picture-worthy, or else we just flat-out forget to take the pictures. We're going to try to get better. Just hang on -- we're trying to get better! I promise I will post some pictures soon, just let me take some first!

Look for a post soon to find out how we celebrated our Valentine's Day!

The Past Little While...

Time sure flies when you're having fun! Or else when you're really busy, either way. This past month has been really awesome. Since I haven't posted since before Christmas break, I have a lot of catching up to do. We spent most of the break in Bountiful and Sandy spending time with our families, including a traditional Christmas Eve party with the Landgren family, and a pretty crazy Nerf gun war with my nephew, Payton. We got some awesome gifts from Santa, which include an awesome new camera (hopefully we'll be better at taking pictures), the complete Harry Potter book set, and a wireless internet router for our apartment! Christmas was awesome!

Harry Potter books of our very own! Yes!

Austin wasn't really part of the Nerf gun war, just posing for a pretty cute picture.

Payton loved to taunt Tyler to get a new Nerf war started.

After we headed back up to Logan, we celebrated our six-month anniversary! We didn't do anything super exciting ... we went and saw the new movie "How Do You Know" that has Rheese Witherspoon and Owen Wilson in it -- we both really enjoyed it!

Now back to the nitty-gritty. We started school this last week, and life is super crazy now! Tyler and I are both going to school full-time and working about 15 1/2 hours a week ... at least we don't have kids to add to the mix!

We're both doing well, just trying to keep up with our homework and have fun at the same time! I hope I can convince Tyler to post soon!

Merry Christmas!!

Finals are finally over, and we have some time to relax! It has been awesome to spend time with our family and our friends! We love this time of year! Since we've been so busy, we haven't had time to send out the Christmas card that we, and by "we" I mean I (Katie), made, so I decided to share it with you anyway! Those of you that are the lucky ones will actually get a real copy. I hope you like it!

Sorry this hasn't been the longest post ... since finals are over, we haven't had much to do! We have some fun holiday parties and friend get togethers planned, so we'll have a lot of pictures to post soon!

We hope you have had a great year! Have a VERY Merry Christmas, AND a happy new year!

Christmas is coming!!

So, the last two weeks have been SO busy! I really do mean to post more often, but school and work get in the way. We have done a bunch of fun things recently too, so it all evens out.

First of all, Thanksgiving break could not come soon enough! Thank goodness for the "blizzard" that got USU to close school early, we were able to miss traffic and horrible weather through Sardine Canyon. On Wednesday night we went and saw Harry Potter 7 with Tyler's family. It was everything we hoped it would be. We can't wait until part 2 comes out!On Thanksgiving we were able to spend time with both families -- it was great to see everybody, play games, and get some rest!

This past week of school was rather hectic, Tyler had a chemistry test on Wednesday, and I had a HUGE paper due for one of my least favorite classes. We just need to keep reminding ourselves that in two weeks the semester will be done!

On Saturday we decided to get a Christmas tree! It was so fun being able to put the tree up and to decorate it. Thank goodness for Shopko and a $30, pre-lit tree!

My awesome husband putting the tree up and fluffing up the branches! Don't worry, I helped! At the time I was turning paperclips into ornatment hooks so that we could actually decorate the tree.

Here's the final project (Unless we try and find some more fun ornaments, but I like it how it is)! Tyler is really great at decorating Christmas trees! I finally had him finish off the decorating because his side looked better than mine.

At this time of year, we are both so thankful for our family and for all that they do for us. We sure appreciate our family and friends for their good examples, and hope that everybody will enjoy this holiday season!

P.S. Happy Birthday Linda! We hope you had a great birthday!

Halloween!...and everything since then!

Sorry it has been a while since I last posted! School has been keeping us very busy these last few weeks! So, let's go back to Halloween! Tyler and I decided to be Waldo and Wenda (from Where's Waldo). It was a quick, easy, fun and cheap costume thanks to the DI, ebay, and making our own hats!

I know, we are too old to go trick-or-treating, unfortunately. However, we did go to a fun Halloween party at Adam and Natalie Norris's! There were lots of fun treat, some fun costumes, and a some Mario Kart on the N64! We are so lucky to have such fun friends that will throw parties! I know, I know, you want to see pictures of our costumes, so, here they are!

What do you think of our costumes? I thought they were pretty good. :) They were comfortable too! It's too bad Halloween is only once a year!

Another exciting thing that has happened recently ... Aggie basketball started!! We were able to go to the game against Weber State last night! Aggies won 77-65! Not only is Utah State a great place for school and home of a great basketball team, Utah State is also home of Wild Bill! One of the stars at the basketball games! You'll understand once you see the pictures ... this is for you Mom!

The secret to Utah State's home court success!

We were excited for our first game of the season! Go Aggies! We look forward to many more Aggie basketball games! You should come visit Tyler and me and come to a game! Anyway, we have another busy week ahead of us! We'll try to do something exciting and blog-worthy! Have a great week!

The Pumpkin Smash!

We didn't actually get to smash pumpkins ... last weekend Tyler had the opportunity to play in a tennis tournament up here in Logan that was called the Pumpkin Smash! It was really fun to watch him smash his first and second opponents, but the third match had all of us a little worried ... it was a very intense match and we weren't sure if either of the players were going to last through three sets.

This last weekend was way awesome because we got to see a lot of family, and we made S'mores Ice Cream again (it just doesn't last long enough)! On Friday my parents came up to watch Tyler play, and on Saturday Tyler's parents and Kevin came up!

Tyler thinks I'm retarded for making him take a picture with his trophy... what can I say? I just want to brag about him!

I definitely think that we got our money's worth out of that match! Tyler got a t-shirt just for entering, AND he got that super cool trophy! Good job Tyler!

Some more fun things that have happened recently ... the movie How to Train Your Dragon finally came out on DVD! I think that is one of our absolute favorite movies of all time! If you haven't seen it, you must do so ASAP! I probably love this movie way too much, but that's alright!

One of our new favorite things to do on Sundays is to have movie marathons and just be kind of, well, lazy! A few Sundays ago we watched Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2, and 3. They were all on TV. Then the other night Harry Potter 1&2 were on (it wasn't Sunday, but I was doing some homework while I was watching it, so I thought it was ok.) The TV didn't really have any good movies on, so Tyler watched Gladiator while I worked on more homework, but we decided to put in The Proposal as our last movie! Do you have any good movie suggestions?

I think that's about it as far as the last week or so goes ... this weekend we have a Halloween Party to go to! There are costumes involved, AND pumpkin carving. I'll be sure to take some pictures and post them! Have a great week everybody!
