That awkward moment...

...when you are brushing your teeth, and then you think to yourself "wait, is this even my toothbrush?"

Thankfully, it was mine. But, that brief moment of doubt was terrifying ... and confusing.

Has something like this ever happened to you?

The Wind Caves!

So there was this one time when we got to stay in Logan for a whole weekend. It was the first time in what felt like months! So, while we were home that weekend, we decided to take advantage of the wonderful activities that surround us, and we ended up on a hike to the Wind Caves! In the four years that I have been here, I had never done the hike, and Tyler hadn't either, so we thought that it would be a perfect Saturday activity... and it was! Anyway, the hike was beautiful! The caves were awesome too, with a great view! Take a look!

On our way up to the caves!

Cool view, and not even at the top yet!

 On top of the caves!

This was me being brave and getting close to the edge!

 Oh! There they are!
Yep, I think we found them!

View of the inside of the caves.

View from inside the caves! It was beautiful!

I'm so glad that we finally decided to take advantage of everything around us! I can't wait until our next adventure!

Summer 2012...

This summer has been absolutely insane!! I have a lot to tell you guys, and I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to write this. I don't even know where to start. After graduation, we had a a good solid month and a half to just play and be together. Like I mentioned in my last post though, I got a job! I work as a community relations specialist for a company called Concordia Communications! I work at Hill Air Force Base (yes, I drive back and forth between Logan and the base every day) and I do some writing for the environmental cleanup program! It is crazy to have a real job and to be able to afford life! Speaking of life, there are some even more things that we've been up to this summer! Take a look:

Right before I started my job, we went to Oregon with Tyler's family for his cousin's wedding reception. We were only there for a weekend, but we saw a lot of great things!

A view of Mt. Hood from the airplane!

One of the many waterfalls we saw at Silver Falls!

On our hike at Silver Falls.

I thought the trees looked awesome on our hike!

 The Portland temple!

Walking the streets at Cannon Beach.

A lighthouse at Cannon Beach.

We had a lot of fun in Oregon, a nice little "last hurrah" before I started working. My new job is going great, and I'm starting to feel like I know what is going on!

In July we celebrated our 2nd anniversary by going up to Park City and spending the night. A few days later, we celebrated Tyler's 24th birthday, and then two weeks later we celebrated my 22nd! July was a busy month for celebrations, but I sure do love it!

August has been one of the best months this summer though, and for very obvious reasons! We went to Maui with Tyler's family. It was a Christmas present from Tyler's parents that I mentioned in these little letters. We just got back last Friday after an amazing week! We saw a lot of fabulous beaches, a lot of waterfalls, went to a Luau, enjoyed multiple beautiful sunsets, ate millions of pineapples, and had a great time! Want to see some pictures? Okay, good. Me too.

Our first day on Maui!

The sunset our first night there.

 The view from our condo!

 The blow hole!

Lunch break before we got our snorkel on!

 Snorkels are sexy, right?

 At the Luau!

On our way up to the Haleakala Crater! (Summit was 10,023 feet!)

 Paddleboarding for the first time.

Just a cool view on the Road to Hana!
 The Seven Sacred Pools

Sitting on top of a waterfall at the Seven Sacred Pools.

A beautiful red sand beach in Hana!

The best lunch we had on Maui -- Troy's! Only open on Thursdays. :)

Sorry for all of the pictures. I was just afraid that I would have another 2 1/2 month break from blogging and I would forget to post all about our trip to Maui! Hopefully I will be able to get back to the blog world soon to give you more updates about our life.

Oh yeah, Tyler is starting to apply for PT schools, so that's kind of scary. More about that later.

Happy weekend!

A little bit of everything...

Yeah... I know it has been a while since I last made an appearance on this little blog of mine... but with school being done, Tyler and I have mostly just been working our awesome jobs on campus. Not a whole lot of excitement going on around here...

There are a few things I'd like to mention, though. Over the last month, I have been completing the application/interview process for a new job (a real big-girl job), and I'd just like to say that I got it! I'll tell you more about it after I start. It will definitely be different than working in the computer labs, but it is going to be great! I'm going to work with some awesome people, and I will get to learn a lot of new things!

Also, remember how I signed up for the Utah Valley Half Marathon? Well... that is supposed to be this coming Saturday, as in, two days. I am sad to say that I won't be running it. You see, since I signed up for it such a long time ago, I kept telling myself that I had loads of time to train... yeah, then it got closer and closer... crazy how that happens... Then I actually started to train, and I was doing awesome, I was actually sticking to my schedule, and one day I went too far and for the next week (at least) I couldn't really walk. The day after I wanted to cry when I got out of bed... Anyway... enough about the sad stuff. My legs are feeling much better now. I'm just taking it slow now though. Hoping to do a half in the fall, but we'll see...

Sorry for one of the most boring posts I think I've ever written... It has been so long since I have posted that I think I just needed to get everything out there, and just start fresh. Anyway, I will leave you with a picture of my handsome husband!

We went to the Cache Valley Gardener's Market on Saturday! It was great to see all of the amazing things that people create... not to mention the food! This just happened to be a churro filled with a vanilla cream -- delicious!

Happy Wednesday!

Have a wonderful day!

On Saturday, I graduated from Utah State! I still don't feel old enough to be a college graduate. I would just like to take a moment to thank all of my family that came to Logan to support me on Saturday, and also for all of the support I have gotten throughout my college career. Here are a few pictures from Saturday:

That's Kevin (Tyler's brother) on the left carrying the rifle... The Air Force ROTC headed up the procession.

Can you find me? Oh, there I am... This was during the procession. Note to self... If you ever graduate again and walk in a procession, wear more comfortable shoes next time.

Between the Commencement and Convocation ceremonies in the Spectrum.

 With my Mom!

Right before I walked to receive my empty diploma case! (Mom... my weird wrist/hand is just for you)

 Shaking the department head's hand.

 Getting my diploma cover.

With two of the PR professors that I was able to work with.

Congratulations to Mary Frances who graduated from the U on Saturday as well! Thanks for bringing your cap and gown so that we could take these fun pictures!

 With our parents.

Me with my parents. I know, pretty obvious...
 With my siblings!

With the best man in the whole world!

I don't think I have realized yet that I am actually graduated. I mean, I know I walked and got my diploma cover, and that I don't have any more classes to take, but I don't think that it will be real until I get my diploma in the mail, when I get a real job, and when I don't go back to school in the fall.

I really am grateful that I had the opportunity to get an education. If I wouldn't have come to Utah State, then I wouldn't have met Tyler, and who knows where I would be without him? Scary thought...

Anyway... I will stop rambling. I'm just grateful for everybody who helped me along the way, and for all of the people who have influenced me in any way!

P.S. I did get my one graduation wish... Aggie Ice Cream!

A Monday Happy List

So, I know that it is Finals Week, and that I should be in a dazed state from too much studying like all of the other college people out there, but I'm not. Why? Because I only have one final paper that I need to write by Wednesday. Which, my whole college career has been preparing me to write papers, so I can (hopefully) bust this sucker pretty quickly...

Anyway, since I'm feeling good at the start of this Finals Week, I just thought that I would bring back the Monday Happy List! It's actually Monday too, so that's a good sign.

Things that are making me happy today...

  • Textbook Buyback -- We now have a little bit of money for groceries!
  • Graduation -- I can't believe I'm actually graduating on SATURDAY!
  • Tyler -- I know, that one pretty much goes without saying... but I just had to mention it.
  • Work -- I'm so blessed to have a wonderful job!
  • The opportunity I have had to get a college education!
  • The PB&J that is sitting in my backpack.
  • My nephews! They are so cute, and make me feel loved whenever I see them or talk to them.

Why are you happy today?

April 27, 2012

Okay, I'll write some little letters.

Since I turned in my portfolios yesterday, and can't decide which criminological theory I want to write my last paper ever about, I guess I'll write some little letters, since it is Friday and all.

Dear Running, I think we are just not meant to be together. You see, this time around with training, I learned that I need to push myself in order to get anywhere. Just as I was getting a good routine built up, you hurt me. I could hardly walk the next morning. Now, even if I try and run at all, it feels like my legs are broken... what the heck? Why can't we just be happy together? Please get back to me on this. Sincerely, the girl who was (apparently) trying hard to work on our relationship...

Dear Legs, I wish I knew how to make you feel better. I do know that running is not the fix though. Thanks for your hard work! Get well soon. Love, the rest of the body.

Dear Graduation, Please hurry up! You are only one week away, but that still feels like forever right now. Plus, I can't wait to wear this cool outfit: [The picture won't upload from phone. Coming soon!]                                      Love, the girl in the picture

Dear JC Penny, I was really excited when I found the perfect skirt and shirt to wear to graduation. I was able to buy the skirt in the store, BUT I had to order the top online... So I did it. You sent me an e-mail a week ago saying that my shirt had shipped, but just last night when Tyler checked our bank account it said that you gave us our money back and that the shirt had been returned. Why?!? I was going to order it again, but the color I wanted "was not available." Dang it. Sincerely, A slightly disappointed girl.

Dear Tyler, Thank you for being awesome. Especially when you spontaneously break out into a dance for me, or when you do funny things while you're watching TV (like brush your hair over, or pop your collar and button up the buttons all the way), or even when you come and cuddle me in the mornings when I'm cold and I don't even have to ask. You just are the best. Love, your sweetie.

This week...

I'm sorry for the lack of posting this week. This is my second-to-last week of school EVER, but really I'm pretty much done after tomorrow. With the exception of one paper that is due next week. But that is the only thing that I have to do for finals week. After that paper is done? Well, I'll be (hopefully) deep cleaning my apartment, because we all know that it needs it, badly.

Anyway. I meant to blog earlier, but I just wanted to brag about my wonderful Monday night with my wonderful husband. What did we do? Well, we ate a delicious dinner (Chicken Parmesan) and then we did this for a little while:

Yep, we played Super Mario Bros. Wii! It was really really fun, and we beat it again on Tuesday night for the second time! We're just cool like that.

Let me know if you want to come play Mario with me sometime, I'm always game!

I better get back to work... I have 3 portfolios that I need to finish up today... Oh boy life is awesome!

What do you like to do for fun?

April 20, 2012

We did it again!

Remember that time I told you about the perfect night when Tyler and I watched a movie on our bed and had popcorn? Well, we did it again, and THIS TIME I remembered to take pictures of our setup. Take a look:

Perfect end to any day!

Happy Friday! Any fun plans for this weekend?

P.S. Happy birthday Mom! I hope you are having a wonderful birthday at Sea World!

Born To Run...

A couple of nights ago, I finished this book:

Which was incredible. It actually made me want to run more, and when I was reading it, it was like a million little light bulbs were going off all at once. It made me want to try new things, like barefoot running. Not that I ever will, but it made me think.

If you are interested in running, or are looking for some running inspiration, I would definitely pick up this book. And don't give up after trying to read it after just a couple of minutes.

I was born to run...even though I don't really like it all that much... oops.

Do you know the mustache man?

Because I do.

And I must say, I really like him.

The mustache made its debut Easter weekend, and only lasted a few days. It definitely made me laugh, and I must admit, sometimes I miss it just a little bit. And by little bit, I mean just a teeny tiny bit, just because Tyler was funny with it (he's funny without too, but a mustache makes things even funnier).

What has made you laugh lately?

I have a whole list...
